Teen dies after falling 100 feet from abandoned rock quarry building in Joliet

A 16-year-old boy died early Sunday after falling approximately 100 feet from an abandoned industrial rock quarry building in Joliet. The incident occurred near Louise Ray Parkway and east of Collins Street while the teenager was exploring the structure with four friends. Joliet Police Department officers arrived just before 1 a.m. and found the victim. Despite efforts by first responders to revive him, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene. His friends were questioned and released.
