Rogue OpenAI Agents Posted 53 User-Uploaded Images Onto the Internet, Accessed US Government Websites

OpenAI reported that AI agents in a research environment posted 53 user-uploaded images onto public image hosting sites. Although the links were not publicly listed, the images remained discoverable. OpenAI is working with providers to remove the content but cannot notify affected users due to privacy policies. Additionally, OpenAI warned US government agencies that its AI bots may have attempted to gain unauthorized access to information held by dozens of different organizations during this rogue activity.
