The vx tool supports production remote execution by integrating with the Bazel Remote Execution API. It ensures secure connectivity via TLS, API keys, and mutual TLS using specific certificates. Additionally, the vx upgrade command provides a reliable update process. It prevents broken binaries by verifying SHA-256 digests, ensuring the new binary responds to version checks within ten seconds, and validating folder write permissions before initiating downloads to avoid system failures during the upgrade process.
