Alberta voters weigh future in Canada

Voters in the oil-rich Canadian province of Alberta are participating in a nonbinding referendum on Monday. This vote determines whether to initiate the first step toward a future referendum on independence from Canada. Although the current process is nonbinding, it has the potential to fuel ongoing separatist discourse. Such developments could significantly impact future political strategies and regional unity as the province weighs its future relationship and potential separation from the Canadian federation.
