Brazil's Lula-Bolsonaro showdown unfolds in Trump's shadow — with the Amazon at stake

Brazil votes Sunday in a presidential election between Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Flávio Bolsonaro. This showdown serves as a test of Trump's influence in Latin America's largest country, with significant implications for foreign policy and the global climate. While Trump described the election as very important and is following it closely, he has not endorsed a candidate. The results could reshape Brazil's relationship with Trump and determine the future of the Amazon rainforest.
