Amazon reportedly buying books to train AI services, then destroying them

Amazon is reportedly purchasing millions of physical and antique books to train its AI services. After scanning the contents of these volumes to build new technology, the company is allegedly destroying the books and dumping them in the trash. An AirTag tracked a shipment of approximately 1,000 books to an Amazon scanning operation. Investigations by Inc. revealed that these unusual shipments have been arriving at a Las Vegas warehouse since 2024 to support AI model development.
