OFFLINE: An AI Walking Companion That Gets Out of the Way

OFFLINE and HearWild are open-source AI tools created for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge. OFFLINE is an offline-first walking companion offering Quiet, Curious, and Explore New Area modes to minimize phone attention. Similarly, HearWild serves as a nature companion that identifies bird sounds using local AI, adding discoveries to a Flock. Both applications reject traditional engagement metrics, instead focusing on helping users spend more time outside by reducing overall screen interaction and maximizing physical environment awareness.
