The first rival Android app store just arrived in the US Play Store

Following legal battles with Epic, Google has opened the Play Store in the US to the distribution of third-party Android app stores. Aptoide, a store specializing in mobile games, is the first competitor to become available for download directly through the Play Store. While third-party app stores have always existed on Android, this move allows users to access alternative digital stores and their specific app selections directly from Google's official platform for the first time.
