Anthropic Says Alibaba Must Be Punished For Largest Claude Cloning Attack

Anthropic has accused Alibaba of executing the largest campaign to illicitly extract Claude's capabilities. According to a letter sent to Senators Tim Scott and Elizabeth Warren, the Qwen team allegedly utilized 25,000 fake accounts and 28.8 million API calls over a 44-day period between April 22 and June 5. This operation aimed to clone Claude's advanced AI capabilities as China seeks to match the leading model following the restriction of Mythos from foreign markets.
