Anthropic’s new framework will let AI agents control hardware

Anthropic has launched the Model Hardware Standard, a framework enabling AI agents to control physical hardware like robots, microscopes, and factory equipment. Currently in research preview, the system reduces setup time from weeks to minutes. Internal tests show Claude aligning lasers and automating scripts. Partners include AWS, Tecan, and QIAGEN, with support from Raspberry Pi and Hugging Face. Anthropic intends to release the framework as open source following thorough testing to facilitate drug development and quantum computing.
