Apple Pay set to launch in India with Axis Bank today, sources say

Apple Pay is reportedly launching in India today, initially supporting Axis Bank credit cards on the Visa and Mastercard networks. While the service debuts, several of the country's largest financial institutions, including HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and SBI Bank/SBI Card, are not expected to provide support at launch. The initial rollout is anticipated to be limited due to the existing popularity of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system used for digital bank-to-bank payments across India.
