Army picks Hanwha’s wheeled K9 for self-propelled howitzer prototypes

The U.S. Army has selected the wheeled K9 from Hanwha's defence unit to develop self-propelled howitzer prototypes. This strategic decision follows several decades of unsuccessful attempts to secure a new mobile artillery system. Previous failed initiatives included the Crusader, the Non-Line-of-Sight Cannon, and the Extended Range Cannon Artillery. By choosing the K9, the U.S. Army aims to finally resolve its long-standing search for an effective mobile artillery solution to enhance its current operational capabilities.
