Arizona State places hockey coach on leave after Blues prospect's collapse

Arizona State placed hockey coach Greg Powers on administrative leave following the collapse of player Matthew Mayich during an outdoor workout in August. Mayich suffered external heat stroke in 89F heat, reducing oxygen flow to his brain, and is unlikely to recover. According to attorney Rob Carey, Mayich showed distress before collapsing, and no cold water tub was available for treatment. The university is currently investigating the incident that left the 21-year-old athlete fighting for his life.
