Athena: A Local-First Change Intelligence Engine & MCP Server for Safe Releases

Athena is an open-source, local-first Git AST change-intelligence engine and Model Context Protocol (MCP) server created for the Hacktoberfest 2026 Side Hustle Challenge. It addresses release day risks by identifying if refactoring subtly altered public function signatures without updating SemVer. The tool detects downstream callers that might break upon merging pull requests and flags discrepancies where function parameters were updated without corresponding changes to docstrings or markdown guides, eliminating the need to manually review numerous commits.
