BBC Buys ‘Kabul’ Drama Series About American Withdrawal From Afghanistan

The BBC has acquired the six-part thriller series Kabul from Mediawan Rights. Set during the 2021 U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan and the Taliban's return to the city, the drama follows the chaotic evacuation of diplomats, soldiers, and civilians. The series features the late Eric Dane and Shervin Alenabi. It specifically highlights the Nazany family's struggle to flee the city while fearing retaliation during these terrifying real-life events for the European Alliance of broadcasters.
