Structural engineering professor discusses unstable Midtown Manhattan building

Several buildings in Midtown Manhattan were evacuated Tuesday morning after bricks fell from a high-rise construction site. Mayor Zohran Mamdani reported multiple cracks and sagging floors, while at least two columns were found buckling. Anil Agrawal, a structural engineering professor at the City College of New York, and Magued Iskander from the NYU Tandon School of Engineering provided analysis on the instability and the reasons why the columns may have buckled at the site.
