GM to Develop Sodium-Ion Battery Cells—for Energy Storage, Not EVs

General Motors is expanding into energy storage for data centres and the electrical grid. The company is developing sodium-ion battery cells via a new prototype lab and a partnership with Peak Energy to reduce costs. Additionally, GM secured a lithium iron phosphate supply deal with LG Energy Solution and expanded its relationship with Redwood Materials.
