‘Minions & Monsters’ Headed to $65 Million 5-Day Box Office

Minions & Monsters debuted at the No. 1 spot, earning $16 million from 4,243 North American theaters on Friday. The film is projected to gross $39.5 million over the Independence Day weekend, with a total 5-day domestic box office estimated around $64.5 to $65 million. These figures are lower than early estimates of $80 million and significantly trail the $122 million opening achieved by Despicable Me 4 two years ago. Universal and Illumination released the sequel on July 1.
