My pre-commit hook passed a broken commit

Locale Guard, a GitHub Action and CLI for translation files, updated its pre-commit hook after version 1.3.0 to prevent broken commits. The initial version failed because it checked files on disk rather than the commit contents. Separately, secrets leaking into git repositories cause many breaches, as bots scrape AWS keys quickly. While CI/CD scanners detect leaks post-commit, pre-commit hooks provide zero-latency interception, avoiding the need for history scrubbing via BFG or git filter-branch.
