The True Classification of AI

AI is divided into two distinct categories. Functional AI is a pattern engine and output generating machinery that produces text, images, code, and summaries by synthesizing correlations. In contrast, Agentic AI is action producing machinery capable of calling tools, executing workflows, and affecting the world. While Functional AI focuses on plausible outputs, Agentic AI involves systems like autonomous loops and multi agent systems that take actions, creating the primary challenges for governance and regulation.
