Bungie Pegs Marathon Full PvE Mode for Season 3 As New Game Director Takes Over

Bungie is introducing the roguelite Vault Breaker PvE mode for a limited test from July 21 to August 4. This experimental phase serves as the first step toward expanding PvE gameplay, with a full rollout expected during Season 3. This move follows a decline in Marathon player retention, where Steam concurrent players dropped from a peak of 88,337 to daily highs of 5,000-6,000. A new Game Director is now overseeing the project's transition.
