California launches a statewide tracker to monitor AI-related job loss

Governor Gavin Newsom announced the California AI-Unemployment Tracker, the first tool of its kind in the country. Developed through a partnership between the governor’s office, the California Employment Development Department (EDD), and the California Policy Lab (CPL), the resource monitors AI-related job loss. The tracker provides monthly updates, breaking down unemployment insurance claims by region, industry, age, education, race, ethnicity, and gender. This launch follows an executive order signed by Newsom in May.
