Newsom signs California ban on public officials issuing memecoins

Governor Gavin Newsom has signed two new laws in California. The first prohibits public officials from issuing memecoins and restricts crypto companies from offering such tokens tied to officials to residents, effective for tokens issued from January 1, 2027. Newsom described this move as the opposite of Trump. Additionally, Newsom signed a bill banning third-party brokers from listing and reselling tee time reservations at publicly owned golf courses to prevent brokers from gobbling up available slots.
