Researchers at Mass General Brigham in Boston developed FAHR-FaceSurvival, an AI model trained on 34,000 facial images to predict cancer survival. Dr. Raymond Mak states the tool helps doctors estimate physical reserve and frailty before recommending intensive treatments. While the AI facial analysis tool can predict cancer mortality risk from a single photo, it is not yet in routine use due to bias concerns and a current lack of clinical trials to validate its efficacy.
