Canada Snubs US With Europe-Led Fighter Jet Program

Canada has officially joined the GCAP next-generation fighter program in the role of an observer. This decision follows the development of various sixth-generation jets globally, including the U.S. F-47. Japanese defense chief Shinjiro Koizumi described Canada's new involvement in the GCAP initiative as monumental. By aligning with this Europe-led program, Canada is shifting its strategic focus regarding the acquisition of advanced fighter aircraft away from the options provided by the United States.
