Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that retaliatory tariffs on US goods will be implemented starting September 8. This decision follows the United States imposing 50 per cent tariffs on USD 20 billion worth of Canadian products early Saturday. Carney stated that the US asked too much and offered too little during negotiations. Consequently, Canada is responding with its own tariffs to counter the trade measures recently established by the United States against Canadian exports.
