Comedian Carlos Mencia Charged With Tax Evasion After Failing to Report $8.7 Million in Income

Comedian Carlos Mencia was arrested Thursday and remains in custody after being charged with 12 counts of felony state tax evasion. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman announced that Mencia failed to report $8.7 million in income. This represents the first case filed by the DA’s newly established Business Tax Fraud Unit. Hochman stated that failing to report such significant income is a slap in the face to hardworking Californians throughout the state.
