Cybersecurity Negotiator Gets 70 Months for Helping BlackCat Extort Victims

Angelo Martino, a former ransomware negotiator from Florida, has been sentenced to 70 months in prison. He was convicted of assisting the BlackCat ransomware gang in extorting American victim companies. Martino misused confidential client data to facilitate these cyberattacks, helping the notorious group pressure US businesses into paying ransoms. He is the third ransomware negotiator to be jailed for collaborating with hackers to extort victims through the misuse of sensitive information.
