Cynthia Erivo Plays Glinda in ‘Nigerian Wicked’ Sketch on ‘SNL U.K.’: ‘She Wants a BBL That Defies Gravity’

Host Cynthia Erivo appeared on SNL U.K. in a lo-fi, melodramatic parody titled Nigerian Wicked. Erivo played Glinda, wearing a blonde wig and pink velour tracksuit, alongside Ayoade Bamgboye as Elphaba. The sketch served as a sapphic parody, delivering the romantic moments between the two characters that LGBTQ fans found lacking in the Wicked movies. This spoof of the Oscar-nominated musical reimagined the enemies-turned-friends dynamic through a comedic, cultural lens during Erivo's hosting stint.
