Democrats select South Carolina for their first presidential nominating contest in 2028 election

This decision aims to better represent the party's racially diverse voter base, cementing a break from tradition by excluding Iowa. Nevada's bid to vote first failed. Following South Carolina, the proposed order includes Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Michigan, and Virginia, although these selections still require final confirmation by the party.
