Denver and liberal groups sue to block armed ICE officers at midterm polling places

Denver and three voting rights organizations have filed a federal lawsuit in Washington, D.C., against the Department of Homeland Security and Secretary Markwayne Mullin. The legal action seeks to block armed Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers from patrolling or being stationed at polling places during the 2026 midterm elections. The plaintiffs argue that deploying federal agents to carry out detainments and serve warrants at voting sites violates the Troops at polls law and threatens voter access.
