Girl missing after family swept into ocean in Laguna Beach

Marine Safety personnel responded to reports of multiple swimmers in distress near Treasure Island Beach in Laguna Beach around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. Preliminary information indicates that a mother and her children were swept out to sea. While some family members were recovered, a young girl remains missing. Officials confirmed on Wednesday that search operations are currently underway to locate the child after the incident occurred at the south end of Laguna Beach.
