Outbreak of diarrhea-causing parasite expands to 4 more states

Federal health officials linked Cyclospora outbreaks in Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania to iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico. These four states join Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia in the largest known cyclosporiasis outbreak in the country. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1,947 people have tested positive for the diarrhea-causing parasite, although the actual number of cases is believed to be significantly higher than the reported figures.
