Disney names Character.AI’s Karandeep Anand its first tech chief

Disney has appointed Karandeep Anand as its first Chief Technology Officer to position the company as a tech-forward entertainment entity. Anand, the former CEO of generative AI chatbot startup Character.AI, will lead the expanding tech and AI group. In this newly created role, Anand is expected to bring several members of his Character.AI team to Disney. This strategic hire follows a period where Disney had previously accused Character.AI of blatant infringement regarding its intellectual property.
