DOJ warns Kennedy Center will be torn down and replaced with amphitheater if renovation canceled

The DOJ warned a Washington, D.C., federal court that the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts faces potential demolition if a planned two-year renovation is canceled. Brantley Mayers, a DOJ Civil Division attorney, stated in a court filing that the national arts complex must undergo $250m in repairs. The Trump administration asserts that the facility must close for these necessary renovations or risk being torn down and replaced with an amphitheater to ensure the site's viability.
