Russia frees ailing ex-US Marine Robert Gilman from detention - Reuters

Russia has released Robert Gilman, a 32-year-old former US Marine, from a prison in Voronezh on humanitarian grounds. Following urges from US officials, the release allows Gilman to receive necessary medical care in the United States after 1,666 days of detention since January 17, 2022. A State Department spokesperson confirmed the release, while Donald Trump promised the returning veteran a cheeseburger. Global Reach, an advocacy group, represented Gilman during his imprisonment in Russia.
