‘Shrek’ Spinoff ‘Donkey’ Sets 2028 Release Date

Universal and Illumination have officially scheduled the Shrek spinoff titled Donkey for release on June 30, 2028. Produced by DreamWorks Animation, the film serves as an origin story explaining how the character became Donkey. Eddie Murphy, who has voiced the wisecracking companion since the original 2001 Shrek movie, will return for the lead role. The project was previously mentioned by Murphy during his press tour for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley before the official confirmation.
