Human-caused wildfire approaches Reno, Nevada, forcing thousands of evacuations

The human-caused Hawk Fire has rapidly expanded to 20 square miles across the Peavine Peak area of the Humboldt–Toiyabe National Forest. This fast-growing wildfire is currently uncontained and has destroyed homes in northwest Reno, Nevada. Authorities have encouraged approximately 90,000 people to evacuate as the blaze spreads through rugged foothills near the California state line. At least six individuals have been reported injured during the emergency, which began on Saturday and continues to threaten local businesses.
