Florida is No. 1 for a reason. The Gators cracked college basketball’s new code

The Florida Gators have entered the 2026-27 college basketball season ranked No. 1 in the Coaches Poll. This achievement marks the first time the team has held the top position since the 2006-07 campaign, which was led by Joakim Noah, Al Horford, and Corey Brewer. The program has successfully cracked the new code of college basketball to secure this ranking, returning to the summit of the sport for the first time in two decades.
