Gilbert wins election to succeed Florida’s Wilson in House

Democrat Oliver Gilbert, a Miami-Dade Commissioner, won a landslide victory in Florida's 24th District to succeed retiring Representative Frederica Wilson. Decision Desk HQ projects that Gilbert easily defeated Republican Tedora Brown in a contest that was never close. The district, located in northern Miami, is predominantly Black. Gilbert secured the endorsement of the outgoing representative, ensuring that Democrats retained their hold on the seat in the House during Tuesday's election process.
