Juliana Stratton wins Senate seat in Illinois

Decision Desk HQ projects that Democrat Juliana Stratton, the lieutenant governor of Illinois, will win the state's Senate seat following Dick Durbin's retirement. Stratton will be the sixth Black woman elected to the Senate. Simultaneously, Republican Rep. Kevin Hern is projected to win the Oklahoma Senate seat previously held by Markwayne Mullin, who was appointed to lead the Department of Homeland Security. Hern secured the victory in Oklahoma by defeating Democratic candidate N’Kiyla Jasmine.
