French visitor dies in Death Valley after vehicle breaks down amid blistering heat

A 68-year-old French tourist, Pierre Michel Formosa, died after his vehicle broke down on West Side Road in Death Valley National Park. The incident occurred on Monday, August 17, while Formosa and a traveling companion were stranded in blistering heat reaching 116 degrees. The remote location and scorching summer temperatures contributed to the fatality in one of the hottest places on Earth. The companion, also from France, was present during the vehicle failure.
