Ten historic firsts: the winning US midterm candidates making waves

The US midterm elections achieved historic milestones by shattering racial, gender, and religious barriers across state and national levels. Voters elected the first black female governor and the first Muslim to the Senate. These results brought increased representation for racial minorities, religious groups, and the LGBTQ community to some of the nation's highest offices. These winning candidates are making waves by breaking long-standing ceilings and diversifying the political landscape within the United States government during the 2026 cycle.
