Lionsgate's request for the Michael Jackson biopic Michael to compete in the comedy or musical categories at the Golden Globes has been denied. The film, featuring Jaafar Jackson, is currently positioned for the drama category. Variety and TheWrap confirmed the decision, noting that the studio has until October 31 to appeal the ruling. This development creates a shift in the competitive strategy for the biopic as it seeks recognition during the awards season.
