Feds bust NYC fraud scheme that engineered hundreds of sham marriages between Americans, Chinese nationals

Federal prosecutors have charged 11 defendants for operating a decade-long fraud scheme in NYC. The operation engineered approximately 1,000 sham marriages between U.S. citizens and Chinese nationals to illegally secure green cards. According to the DOJ, some immigrants paid thousands of dollars to participate in these fraudulent weddings to obtain permanent legal status.
