xAI has open-sourced Grok Build, a terminal-based AI coding agent developed in Rust. Released under the Apache 2.0 license, the project includes the agent loop, TUI, tool dispatch, and extension system. This software layer enables models to inspect codebases, edit files, execute shell commands, and search the web. While the Grok Build infrastructure is now public and has gained significant community traction, the Grok 4.5 model remains closed, and external contributions are not currently accepted.
