Open Source experienced an idyllic childhood for two decades, operating with trust and generosity, though it was retrospectively feral. Meanwhile, a .NET developer transitioned to .NET MAUI in 2022, attracted by the promise of applying existing C# and ASP.NET Core skills to mobile and desktop platforms. However, the initial experience was difficult, as running the first app proved nearly impossible due to build errors, missing platform tools, and improperly installed workloads and SDKs.
