During the 2026 NHL Draft held on Friday at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y., the Toronto Maple Leafs selected Gavin McKenna with the first overall pick in the first round. Additionally, the Pittsburgh Penguins chose Liam Ruck with the 22nd pick of the first round. Ruck appeared alongside NHL commissioner Gary Bettman following his selection.
