Suspect charged after 2 Chicago police officers injured in police-involved shooting on South Side

Malik Wrightsell, a 34-year-old Chicago man, faces seven charges following an officer-involved shooting on July 3. The charges include attempted first-degree murder of one CPD officer and aggravated battery of another. Additional counts include aggravated assault, resisting a peace officer, and two weapons offenses, plus a ticket for operating a non-highway vehicle. Police stopped a homemade vehicle during the incident. A detention hearing for Wrightsell is scheduled for Monday in Chicago.
