I built a browser game portal with Next.js: what I learned about SEO

A Unity developer created PikiPlay, a free browser game portal utilizing Next.js 15, Supabase, and Tailwind. To manage a growing catalog and avoid Google's duplicate content penalties, the developer implemented a strict SEO strategy. Previously, games were accessible via numeric IDs, partner codes, and various slug spellings. The system now resolves each game to a single canonical slug, using permanent redirects from /game/[id] to ensure one unique URL per game for optimal search engine indexing.
